On TUESDAY FEBRUARY 3 2009 Heads South will appear at the BROOK THEATRE in CHATHAM, Kent. This is a great venue, the theatre is in the Old Town Hall. The concert begins at 8.00pm. Line-up will be John Harriman on piano, Steve Waterman trumpet, Tim Robertson bass, Buster Birch drums and Cuban percussionist Chino Martell Morgan. Heads South got its first airplay on UK radio. In anticipation of the festival of Jazz taking place in the Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells and Heads South's gig there on August 14th John Harriman was interviewed by BBC radio and the band's recording of El Cardenal was played in full. The program went out on BBC Southern Counties Radio, Radio Kent, Radio Oxford, Radio Solent and Radio Berkshire.

A Taster CD with 5 tracks by Heads South came off the factory presses at the end of June. The Limited Edition CD, the band's first, was recorded and mixed at Red Gables Studios in London. The CD will be used for promotional purposes, pending production of a full-length CD next year. Full download of two of the CD tracks is available here on the website on the music page

Heads South's latest gig at The Grey Lady Music Lounge on June 13 was declared a great success by the Club's management. The band played to a packed club and a high-spirited dance floor into the small hours in what was the club's best Friday night for some time

Heads South are appearing in the Outdoor Jazz Festival in The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, on Thursday August 14 from 7.30pm to 10pm. This follows their acclaimed inaugural performance there last year as a guest line-up. The Concert takes place in the Pantiles bandstand and is free to the public (do get there early!). The band will be led by pianist John Harriman with Steve Waterman on trumpet, Tim Robertson on bass, Buster Birch on drums and Cuban percussionist Chino Martell Morgan. The Concert is one of a series of free outdoor Jazz Concerts of top artists presented by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and Woods on Thursday evenings in the summer which include outstanding UK guitarist Jim Mullen with his Organ Quartet and the Australian singer Trudy Kerr with her band.
